This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Recruit, retain, lead, mentor, inspire, and empower a team of software engineers and QA engineers to achieve optimal productivity.
• Cultivate an environment where creative engineering team members experience satisfaction in delivering business value on a daily basis.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ongoing learning within the team.
• Concentrate on comprehending the entire team lean value stream and manage as well as monitor performance and waste within that stream.
• Identify and implement enhancements in workflows, tools, and processes to boost team productivity by advocating lean development methodologies to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
• Collaborate with Staff Engineers and Product Management to devise practical design proposals and development timelines. Decompose extensive tasks into manageable phases of development activities.
• Work alongside Product Management to create a lean backlog that aligns with senior leadership expectations for daily releases and smaller story sizes.
• Develop skill sets within the team through collaboration with Engineering Enablement teams, ensuring team members possess the skills and tools necessary to accomplish their team objectives.
• Accurately evaluate each engineer’s capabilities and workload, establish clear goals and expectations, while offering regular feedback and conducting performance reviews.
• Exercise discretion in assessing business urgencies and priorities, reallocating team resources to achieve improved outcomes.
• Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of features and enhancements for the e-commerce platform.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support organizational objectives.
• Over 7 years of software engineering experience, including more than 2 years in a leadership capacity.
• Strong comprehension of e-commerce platforms and associated technologies.
• Proven track record of managing software development projects and leading cross-functional engineering teams through the entire product development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to software specification, development, testing, and successful release.
• Practical experience with agile and lean development methodologies.
• Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a thorough understanding of the evolving e-commerce business landscape.
• Capability to work efficiently in a remote team setting.
• Extensive experience with modern development tools and technologies (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms, microservices, and event-driven architecture), including advanced deployments utilizing Kubernetes and Istio.
