Senior Engineering Manager – V&V Media

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Lead a group of senior engineers in the creation of Twilio's cutting-edge media processing stack.

• Guide technical architecture choices for low-latency and high-throughput media systems.

• Collaborate with product, platform teams, and other engineering units to outline technical roadmaps.

• Establish engineering excellence by setting code quality standards, testing methodologies, and ensuring operational reliability.

• Mentor engineers and offer technical support on intricate media processing issues.

• Manage the balance between reducing technical debt and developing new features while ensuring service reliability.

• Construct and enhance systems that manage real-time media processing at scale.

• Take ownership of service performance metrics, reliability objectives, and continuous improvement efforts.

• Work alongside engineering leaders to synchronize media platform capabilities with the broader Voice strategy.

• Make crucial decisions regarding the technology stack that influence Twilio's media processing capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of engineering management experience leading teams in the development of distributed systems.

• Strong technical foundation with experience in architecting and building backend services at scale, ensuring high reliability under stringent SLOs.

• Profound understanding of systems design, microservice architecture, and cloud infrastructure.

• Experience in managing complex technical trade-offs between reliability, scalability, and feature development.

• Proven track record of successfully delivering critical infrastructure projects with substantial technical complexity.

• Experience in enhancing developer velocity through the use of AI tools.

• Strong knowledge in performance optimization, reliability engineering, and operational excellence.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience in at least one of the following: real-time communications systems, media processing, streaming technologies, or related areas.
