This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Oversee the RAC-Safety team.
• Manage all operations and resources within the RAC-Safety group.
• Implement the group's direction, priorities, goals, and strategies.
• Monitor, evaluate, provide feedback, and approve work produced by RAC-Safety engineers regarding vehicle safety issues. Distribute workload among team members.
• Report to the Director on the group's activities and collaborate with the Director on vehicle safety policy issues.
• Consult with the Director regarding RAC-Safety staffing matters.
• Collaborate with other departments within MRDA to fulfill the wider organizational objectives and execute the Business Plan.
• Serve as Mitsubishi Motors' primary liaison for vehicle safety standards rulemakings, consumer safety programs (NCAP, IIHS, CR, etc.), and related federal and state legislative activities that impact light-duty vehicle content, design, development, or performance.
• Analyze and deliver strategic recommendations promptly to MMC and MMNA concerning US regulatory activities; guide MMC/MMNA in their comments on rulemakings or other government-initiated actions; consolidate input from MMC/MMNA and submit final documents to NHTSA, IIHS, or other relevant entities.
• Represent MMC at the US auto manufacturer trade association (e.g., Alliance for Automotive Innovation - AAI) and various vehicle safety-related organizations. Provide timely updates to MMC about these activities and advise on recommended actions.
• Assist Mitsubishi Motors Canada (MMSCan) with vehicle safety-related issues when requested.
• Ensure that information requests from NHTSA, IIHS, or other relevant entities are managed efficiently and promptly.
• Lead the creation and updates of vehicle safety regulatory forecasts.
• Address requests from MMC and MMNA for interpretations of regulations, media-related events (safety-related television broadcasts, press events, etc.), technical information (test results), background information on future/ongoing rulemaking, and other related inquiries.
• Prepare and maintain up-to-date reports on significant light-duty vehicle safety regulatory activities.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (automotive-related) or equivalent qualification.
• Over 10 years of specialized experience in automotive safety regulatory, compliance, and certification within an automotive organization.
• At least 5 years of experience in project leadership or coordination.
• Preferred management experience of 2 years or more.
• Proficient in computer skills, especially in word processing, spreadsheet software, Microsoft Office products, and internet research.
