Manager, Revenue Accounting – Commercial Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily operations of revenue accounting, which includes billing, revenue recognition, collections support, cash application, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.

• Manage the order-to-cash process to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company policies.

• Analyze customer contracts and collaborate with business partners to establish proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.

• Prepare and evaluate journal entries associated with revenue, deferred revenue, accruals, reserves, and other revenue-related accounts.

• Conduct and assess complex account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to guarantee financial accuracy.

• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, internal controls, and company accounting policies.

• Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing procedures by ensuring the timely completion of assigned tasks.

• Contribute to the formulation, implementation, and documentation of accounting policies and standard operating procedures.

• Identify areas for process enhancement, increased automation, and improved efficiency within revenue accounting operations.

• Collaborate with IT and Finance departments on ERP upgrades, system implementations, and process optimization projects.

• Track key revenue accounting metrics and provide management with analyses to facilitate informed business decisions.

• Aid in preparing schedules and supporting documentation for both internal and external audits.

• Ensure adherence to SOX/internal control requirements and assist in remediation efforts when necessary.

• Supervise, mentor, and develop revenue accounting staff while promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Support special projects and strategic initiatives directed by the Director of Revenue Accounting and Financial Operations.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

• CPA is preferred; consideration will be given to CPA eligibility.

• A minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

• Over 5 years of experience in managing the entire order-to-cash process, encompassing contract review, billing, revenue recognition, collections, and cash application.

• Strong background in month-end closing, account reconciliations, accruals, deferred revenue, and financial reporting.

• Experience in high-volume accounting settings is essential.

• Familiarity with enterprise ERP systems and financial management software is required.

• Proven track record of enhancing accounting processes and implementing operational efficiencies.

• Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance is preferred.

• Knowledge of deferred revenue, performance obligations, and contract accounting is preferred.

• Experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, specialty pharmacy, or patient support services is preferred.

• Experience with copay assistance programs, Patient Assistance Programs (PAP), or manufacturer-sponsored patient affordability programs is a plus.
