Manager, Quality Control – BSA/AML & Sanctions Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily operations of the independent Quality Control (QC) function within BSA/AML & Sanctions Operations.

• Implement the QC program across all five review populations while ensuring independence from production disposition authority.

• Utilize and sustain a risk-based, stratified sampling methodology with an emphasis on new-hire oversampling; suggest improvements based on outcomes.

• Employ the critical, significant, and administrative error taxonomy in accordance with the OCC five-element documentation standards.

• Carry out escalation and re-work protocols and highlight gaps to the Director.

• Supervise the QC Lead and QC Analysts.

• Conduct monthly calibration sessions among QC, Leads, and Managers with documented results.

• Assemble QC results and identify thematic trends for reporting to the Director for BSA/AML governance.

• Monitor and ensure the resolution of effective-challenge items.

• Facilitate read-only system access for Actimize, FCRM, and Bridger.

• Maintain the QC results repository and confirm that QC has no production disposition authority.

• Operate in accordance with the Financial Crimes Compliance Independent Testing and Quality Assurance Program Document.

• Assist the Director in engaging with Financial Crimes Compliance Independent Testing and Quality Assurance and Internal Audit.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is required.

• CAMS certification is mandatory.

• CFE, CFCS, or CRCM certification is preferred.

• 6–9 years of experience in BSA/AML, including quality assurance/quality control or independent testing.

• At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role.

• Experience in designing sampling methodologies and error taxonomies within a regulated environment.

• Knowledge of alert, case, and sanctions-screening processes.

• Strong expertise in QC/QA design, including statistically valid sampling and calibration.

• Must possess independence and objectivity, with the ability to constructively challenge the production line.

• Familiarity with the five-element documentation baseline and examiner expectations.

• Ability to report findings and trends clearly to governance forums.

• Collaborative approach with second and third lines while maintaining first-line QC scope.

• Proficient understanding of Pathward's product suite, which includes Card Issuing / Prepaid, Acquiring (Merchant & ATM), Tax Products, Digital Payments & Faster Payments, Sanctions (OFAC / 314(a) / PEP), and the Bank-vs-Program-Manager framework.
