Manager, Payroll and Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +19 more states.

📋 Description

• Review and authorize payroll processes, including off-cycle payments, bonuses, commissions, and payroll adjustments.

• Act as the subject matter expert for UKG Ready Payroll administration.

• Manage payroll system setup, testing, troubleshooting, and enhancement.

• Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll regulations, including tax withholding, registrations, reporting, and adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.

• Oversee year-end payroll activities, which include W-2s, W-2 corrections, 1099s, payroll tax submissions, and support for payroll-related audits.

• Design and uphold payroll internal controls, approval processes, segregation of duties, payroll reconciliations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Lead and enhance payroll operations.

• Supervise the payroll processing team.

• Collaborate with Human Resources on employee lifecycle transactions.

• Guarantee precise payroll and benefits administration.

• Report directly to the Controller.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-7 years of payroll expertise, including multi-state payroll and compliance knowledge.

• Previous experience in managing or leading payroll teams is highly desirable.

• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is preferred.

• Familiarity with payroll and HRIS platforms such as ADP, Workday, or Paylocity.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline.

• Capability to work remotely from a dedicated, distraction-free home office.

• Applicants residing in the specified priority states will be given preference.
