Manager, Innovation – Transformation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design, development, and implementation of innovative, secure, and scalable IT solutions that align with business goals.

• Oversee, mentor, and cultivate a team of application developers, including workload management, performance evaluations, coaching, and talent recruitment.

• Advocate for software development best practices throughout the entire application development lifecycle, encompassing coding standards, testing, documentation, deployment, security, and quality assurance.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, assess business needs, and devise effective technical solutions.

• Supervise application architecture, database design, and system integration to produce high-quality business applications.

• Foster collaboration among IT teams, business units, and external vendors to ensure effective solution delivery and ongoing application support.

• Investigate, assess, and pilot emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies that enhance business performance and innovation.

• Create proof-of-concept solutions and identify opportunities for utilizing new technologies throughout the organization.

• Promote a collaborative, high-performance team culture by addressing challenges, sharing knowledge, and encouraging continuous learning.

• Relay project status, technical recommendations, and strategic initiatives to IT leadership and business stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and extensive software development experience.

• Over 8 years of progressive experience in application development, software engineering, or R&D roles.

• At least 2 years of leadership experience supervising application developers or analysts, with responsibility for the entire application development lifecycle.

• Strong proficiency in software development, systems architecture, and application design, with experience in the Microsoft .NET ecosystem regarded as an asset.

• Demonstrated capability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, serving as the technical escalation point for debugging, problem-solving, and solution design.

• Solid understanding of web and database technologies, including HTML, JavaScript, and SQL.

• Robust business analysis and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to gather, document, and translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to juggle hands-on technical work, team leadership, and multiple competing priorities.

• A collaborative leadership approach with experience partnering across IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to deliver high-quality solutions.
