This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Direct and oversee the enterprise data governance initiative, which involves the creation and upkeep of governance policies, standards, procedures, and frameworks for decision rights.
• Identify and communicate business-relevant metrics and KPIs to evaluate program success and support effective resource distribution.
• Manage the federated stewardship network, ensuring coordination among domain-level Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Business Owners within the hub-and-spoke governance framework.
• Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Cyber Security, IAM, and business stakeholders to guarantee governance practices are in line with regulatory standards.
• Create and sustain the enterprise data classification standard and the official PHI inventory, detailing ownership assignments, refresh intervals, and pre- and post-sharing protocols for regulated data.
• Work with technology teams to integrate governance into data pipelines, metadata management, and technology platforms, including Alation, Microsoft Purview, Netskope, and BigQuery.
• Establish and manage AI and GenAI data governance parameters, including classification-based data access regulations for AI applications.
• Spearhead change management and adoption initiatives for data governance, which includes creating persona-specific enablement resources, conducting training workshops, and facilitating stakeholder communications.
• Recruit, develop, and supervise at least one direct report; oversee team workload, priorities, and deliverables to ensure alignment with enterprise governance goals and regulatory timelines.
• A Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in data governance, data management, information security, or a related field is required.
• At least 5 years of experience within the healthcare or health insurance sector is required.
• Proven experience in leading or coordinating data governance programs, including policy formulation, stewardship models, and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Familiarity with data classification frameworks, metadata management, and data cataloging tools such as Alation and Microsoft Purview is required.
• Experience in managing or mentoring professional-level staff is necessary.
• Understanding of regulatory and compliance standards affecting data governance in healthcare, including HIPAA, HITECH, and NIST frameworks.
• Proficiency in data governance and metadata platforms such as Alation, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric, and data quality tools.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, with a talent for influencing without direct authority in a matrixed environment.
• Demonstrated skills in project management and facilitation, with experience in agile delivery methodologies.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of presenting governance concepts and program updates to executive leadership.
