This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Offer hands-on technical leadership for the three necessary AI/ML models utilizing CASCOM, GCSS-Army, SAP, and various Army data sources.
• The individual must be proficient in coding, evaluating, deploying, and maintaining models—going beyond merely leading strategic discussions.
• Possible use cases encompass GenAI/OpenAI, Copilot, SAP ECC search, document extraction, anomaly detection, equipment-readiness forecasting, maintenance forecasting, fleet automation, and supply forecasting.
• Oversee the selection and enhancement of the three foundational AI/ML use cases.
• Determine the mission question, data requirements, technical baseline, performance metrics, and acceptance criteria for each model.
• Conduct data exploration, feature engineering, model development, comparative evaluation, and error analysis.
• Collaborate with the GCSS-Army Subject Matter Expert (SME) to validate business rules and interpret model outcomes.
• Partner with the Azure Data/MLOps Engineer to package, deploy, monitor, version, and sustain models.
• Develop GenAI, RAG, forecasting, anomaly detection, or recommendation features as chosen.
• Implement human-review processes where model outputs influence operational decisions.
• Create model cards, evaluation findings, known limitations, release documentation, and criteria for retraining.
• Assist in integrating model insights into dashboards and Power Apps.
• Engage in demonstrations and CASCOM production-readiness assessments.
• Capability to work remotely during standard Government hours and attend daily status, requirements, development, and technical review sessions.
• Willingness to travel to Fort Lee, Virginia, at least three times a year and be onsite more frequently if required.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Practical experience in production AI/ML development.
• Proficient in Python and SQL.
• Proven experience in taking at least one model from requirements to production or operational deployment.
• Familiarity with Azure-based AI/ML services or a similar cloud environment.
• Ability to articulate model evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and retraining processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering, or a related field; equivalent specialized experience may be accepted.
• A minimum of seven years in data science, machine learning, advanced analytics, or applied AI.
• At least four years of experience in developing machine-learning solutions.
• Experience delivering a minimum of three significant models or AI capabilities, with at least one in production.
• Strong skills in Python, SQL, pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and at least one major ML or deep-learning framework.
• Experience with two or more of the following: Forecasting, Anomaly detection, Classification, Recommendation engines, Optimization, Document extraction, NLP, RAG, or GenAI.
• Experience in defining measurable model-performance criteria.
• Knowledge of feature engineering, training, validation, test data, error analysis, explainability, and model documentation.
• Strong preference for Azure Machine Learning, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Microsoft Copilot, or similar Azure AI services.
• Background in defense logistics, maintenance, readiness, fleet, supply chain, acquisition, property, or financial analytics.
• Familiarity with GCSS-Army, SAP ECC, ERP, or maintenance-system data.
• Experience with classified or Government-cloud deployment.
• Skills in model monitoring, drift detection, bias testing, red teaming, or human-in-the-loop validation.
• Integration experience of model outputs with Power BI, Power Apps, APIs, or operational applications.
• Proficient in briefing technical results to operational users and senior leaders.
