Manager – Coding Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• The Coding Operations Manager, reporting to the Coding Operations Director, is tasked with delivering operational leadership and oversight of designated coding functions throughout the organization.

• Holds direct management responsibility for the assigned coding operations.

• Ensures that coding activities adhere to the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, compliance, and turnaround times.

• Works in collaboration with Revenue Integrity and Patient Financial Services to address coding-related billing edits and minimize reimbursement delays.

• Maintains comprehensive knowledge of National Coverage Determinations (NCDs), Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs), National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits, and relevant federal and state regulations impacting coding and reimbursement.

• Attains organizational goals for coding quality and reimbursement accuracy through the precise assignment of coding methodologies.

• Responsible for staff scheduling, managing staffing assignments, and monitoring coding productivity.

⛳️ Requirements

• An associate degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related healthcare field is required.

• A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in acute care coding, covering both inpatient and outpatient coding.

• Preferably three (3) or more years in coding leadership, supervisory, management, auditing, education, or project leadership roles.

• Current credentials such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC from AHIMA or AAPC are required.

• Demonstrated proficiency with 3M™ 360 Encompass, computer-assisted coding technologies, encoder systems, electronic health records, abstraction systems, auditing software, Microsoft Office applications, reporting tools, and other revenue cycle technologies.
