Manager, Assessment Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the implementation and onboarding process. Take ownership of how Newsela’s assessment products are established for clients, which includes onboarding, configuration, and go-live support for strategic and key accounts.

• Provide continuous advisory and support. Develop a team and a playbook that enhances the assessment relationship between Newsela and key accounts. This may encompass score interpretation, additional assessment requirements, data coaching, and usage reviews that yield renewal-worthy results.

• Oversee assessment migration and content services. Manage assessment migration and content services with distinct scoping and quality standards.

• Lead the team effectively. Recruit, coach, and develop a team of individual contributors. Set clear expectations, maintain a healthy operational cadence, and foster an environment where individuals can perform at their best.

• Streamline and enhance the function. Optimize the intake, prioritization, and capacity model that allows the team to scale while maintaining quality. Document successful processes and modify those that are ineffective.

• Collaborate cross-functionally. Work closely with other functional teams to ensure that assessment services act as a force multiplier for the wider business.

• Represent the voice of the customer. Convey insights gathered in the field back into product and content priorities. Provide evidence rather than anecdotes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of combined experience in K-12 EdTech, assessment, and/or customer-facing professional services.

• At least 3 years of experience in people management, including hiring, coaching, and performance evaluation.

• Profound knowledge of formative and/or interim assessments, including their construction, application, and the decision-making processes of educators based on the data.

• Experience with additional assessment types beyond formative and/or interim assessments.

• Direct experience working with district and school leaders, instructional coaches, and assessment coordinators.

• Strong operational instincts; known for transforming ad hoc tasks into repeatable and scalable processes.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; equally adept in customer interactions and internal cross-functional meetings.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity; you possess strong problem-solving skills.
