This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in implementing federal and state advocacy initiatives and policy campaigns under the supervision of the Director of Advocacy Engagement and Mobilization.
• Prepare advocacy materials such as action alerts, fact sheets, blog posts, talking points, and social media content to promote the Association’s legislative and regulatory goals.
• Manage daily advocacy communications, which includes updating the Advocacy Action Center and tracking engagement metrics.
• Lead the development and delivery of impactful public affairs messaging and materials that enhance and support the Association’s government affairs aims.
• Help coordinate logistics for advocacy events, including briefings, webinars, and meetings at both Hill and state levels.
• Monitor and analyze policy changes, hearings, and legislation pertinent to ALS and associated health policy matters.
• Support grassroots involvement by recruiting, training, and mobilizing advocates.
• Aid in creating advocacy reports, presentations, and dashboards to assess campaign effectiveness.
• Offer administrative and project management assistance to the Advocacy & Public Policy team.
• Represent The ALS Association at meetings, coalition gatherings, and advocacy events as designated.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as necessary to support the team’s mission and objectives.
• A bachelor's degree is mandatory; an advanced degree in public policy, political science, communications, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Experience in government relations, public policy, or issue advocacy, ideally within the health care or nonprofit sectors.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state legislative processes.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to create persuasive advocacy materials.
• Familiarity with advocacy tools (e.g., Quorum, Fiscal Note, VoterVoice, or similar platforms) and digital communication strategies.
• Detail-oriented self-starter capable of managing multiple projects and priorities at once.
