This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Collaborate with the People Services team to deliver the organisation's payroll function, utilizing Xero Payroll to ensure timely and accurate employee payments.
• Prepare and submit PAYE and pension contribution returns by statutory deadlines.
• Address and resolve employee payroll inquiries with efficiency.
• Oversee IR35 assessments and Off-Payroll Working returns to ensure compliance with HMRC legislation and internal governance.
• Stay updated on financial legislation, payroll regulations, and accounting standards.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC requirements.
• Utilize Xero to maintain precise financial records and generate management information.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
• Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Contribute to management accounts, financial reports, and forecasts.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors for annual audits and compliance reviews.
• Maintain financial records and documentation related to audit/governance.
• Identify and implement improvements in financial processes, controls, and reporting.
• Perform other reasonable finance-related tasks as required.
• Report directly to the Head of Finance.
• Demonstrated experience with finance and payroll software, especially Xero.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, including the ability to manipulate, analyze, and present financial data.
• Experience providing payroll services in a small to medium-sized organization.
• Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial processes.
• Capability to support and advise colleagues without a finance background.
• Proven experience in managing financial data and generating accurate reports from various systems and data sources.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
• Ability to extract, analyze, and present data from multiple sources effectively.
• Experience in preparing financial analysis and management information for planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
• A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement.
• Ability to enhance financial processes and controls.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence in building effective working relationships across the organization.
• Ability to convey financial information in an understandable manner to non-financial audiences.
• Professional qualification such as AAT, CIPP, CIMA, or an equivalent.
• This role is UK-based and must be performed within the UK.
