This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Design, architect, and implement enterprise virtualization solutions leveraging VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Nutanix, Dell PowerFlex, and associated technologies.
• Formulate and implement strategies for platform upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management across customer environments.
• Provide expert technical leadership during pre-sales activities and post-sales service execution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure virtualization strategies align with customer business goals.
• Develop and maintain architecture documentation, operational procedures, technical standards, and deployment guides.
• Mentor engineers and offer technical leadership within the Managed Services organization.
• Conduct capacity planning, performance optimization, health assessments, and validate disaster recovery plans.
• Support hybrid and multi-cloud environments by integrating Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform with on-premises infrastructure.
• Facilitate customer workshops, technical assessments, roadmap planning sessions, and discussions at the executive level.
• Engage in complex incident resolution, root cause analysis, and technical escalations.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives, operational standards, automation projects, and engineering best practices.
• Over 10 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise virtualization platforms.
• Extensive practical experience with VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Nutanix, Dell PowerFlex, VxRail, or similar enterprise virtualization technologies.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization lifecycle management, encompassing upgrades, patching, maintenance, and operational support.
• Experience in supporting production enterprise environments within Managed Services, consulting, or large IT organizations.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud architectures that integrate Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficient in performance tuning, capacity management, disaster recovery planning, and infrastructure optimization.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills within ITIL or IT Service Management frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
• Experience in creating technical documentation, operational runbooks, and implementation standards.
• Capacity to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across various customer environments.
• Willingness to partake in an on-call rotation to support a 24x7 managed services environment.
• Experience within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) setting.
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), or equivalent certifications.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools such as LogicMonitor.
• Familiarity with automating administrative tasks using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and automation tools is advantageous.
• Experience with enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
