This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Engages in hands-on training to acquire basic terminology, concepts, practices, and procedures related to Machinery & Equipment valuation engagements.
• Analyzes previously completed models and appraisal reports to enhance understanding of the valuation process and its principles.
• Utilizes internal models to assess various industries and projects.
• Identifies the essential questions to pose during interviews to gather pertinent information for appraisal needs in line with established guidelines and procedures.
• Conducts on-site or telephone interviews to familiarize with a company’s operations, control and management procedures, inventory composition, and factors influencing inventory values.
• Participates in travel for job inspections and/or client meetings, either independently or alongside another Analyst or Appraiser, including photographing assets during site visits and providing detailed notes and equipment listings.
• Maintains a solid understanding of the inspection process and the information required for conducting an inventory appraisal.
• Properly documents inspection notes.
• Proactively identifies any potential challenges with values and communicates concerns to the client and Business Development Officer well ahead of the final report issuance.
• Evaluates the financial performance and operational metrics of appraised companies, including thorough analysis of inventory, sales, expense structures, seasonality trends, inventory turnover, and gross margin.
• Reviews and contributes to the narrative of appraisal reports.
• May engage in project reviews with senior management.
• Directly communicates with all clients, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Effectively and confidently articulates the rationale for changes in value or defends values for new appraisals to companies and/or clients.
• Acquires knowledge of and adheres to USPAP standards applicable to Machinery & Equipment valuations.
• Maintains the Gordon Brothers’ Appraisal Application database to ensure accurate and timely information regarding contacts, companies, and projects.
• Upholds Gordon Brothers’ Core Values and contributes to achieving the strategic plan's objectives.
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply chain, or operations management preferred; or relevant work experience.
• A minimum of two years of prior work experience, ideally in a manufacturing, warehouse, or similar industrial setting.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word is required; working knowledge of MS PowerPoint is preferred.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• A high degree of integrity and business acumen is essential.
• Desired skills include demonstrated analytical, presentation, and project management abilities.
• Required problem-solving skills to conduct in-depth analyses of job-related information.
• Preferred experience in spreading historical financial statement data, encompassing income statements and balance sheets.
• Ability and willingness to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is crucial.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Competence in managing multiple projects with meticulous attention to detail.
• Must be prepared to travel up to 25%, including some overnight trips, for site inspections. Site inspections may involve moderate physical activities such as walking, bending, reaching, and/or climbing to visually inspect equipment.
