Loss Control Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site and virtual loss control assessments for commercial insurance clients to evaluate exposures, safety protocols, and overall risk quality.

• Create comprehensive written reports detailing observations, recommendations for risk improvement, and underwriting insights.

• Examine loss history and trends to establish targeted safety initiatives aimed at reducing claims and enhancing client performance.

• Deliver safety training to insured clients on subjects such as hazard identification, OSHA compliance, fleet safety, ergonomics, and injury prevention.

• Work closely with Underwriting to assess account suitability, pricing factors, and risk-related decision-making.

• Collaborate with clients to formulate and track corrective action plans and conduct follow-up evaluations.

• Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and pertinent safety standards (OSHA, DOT, NFPA, etc.).

• Act as a technical resource for agents, brokers, and internal teams regarding strategies for risk mitigation.

• Ensure precise documentation and manage scheduling, reporting, and client communication promptly.

• Contribute to the development of safety resources, guides, policies, and training materials for both insured clients and internal purposes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Occupational Health, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 2–5 years of experience in loss control, safety, or risk management within insurance or industrial sectors.

• Proficient understanding of OSHA standards, risk assessment principles, and accident prevention strategies.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to convert technical concepts into practical advice.

• Ability to work autonomously, manage various assignments, and travel to client sites as required.

• Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, ARM, or equivalent are preferred (or a willingness to obtain).
