Localization Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create software for the localization, calibration, and mapping of autonomous robotic ground vehicles.

• Develop and maintain C++ onboard software.

• Perform data analysis, frequently utilizing Python, within a shared software repository.

• Take ownership of algorithm and testing requirements gathering, including reviews and updates with autonomy software, systems, and safety teams.

• Design and manage simulation and track test scenarios to validate localization systems, encompassing critical safety functions.

• Oversee Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.

• Advocate for robust unit test coverage throughout the localization codebase.

• Seek systems-level solutions that facilitate progress in algorithm and hardware projects.

• Work collaboratively with safety and adjacent teams to optimize localization and safety algorithm configuration settings.

• Participate in and provide feedback during code and requirements reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency with requirements management tools (e.g., Jama) and structuring test coverage across unit, simulation, track, and HIL (Hardware-In-the-Loop) levels.

• Understanding of safety qualification standards pertaining to localization accuracy.

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related systems engineering discipline.

• Relevant and demonstrable experience is essential.

• Hands-on, adaptable, and willing to delve into details; open to modifying approaches based on feedback.

• Strong expertise in localization algorithms and estimation theory, including Kalman filtering and/or pose graph optimization.

• Knowledge of LIDAR- and computer-vision-based localization, mapping, and calibration; radar experience is advantageous.

• Competence in C++ sufficient for navigating and understanding the team's source code.
