Litigation Program Clerkship

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform legal and factual research.

• Draft legal documents and other written materials.

• Collaborate with attorneys from the Animal Legal Defense Fund to initiate new civil cases.

• Engage in Litigation Program meetings alongside attorneys.

• Participate in hearings, oral arguments, and various events throughout the summer as possible.

• Undertake assignments across multiple animal law topics and legal areas.

• Join scheduled networking and engagement initiatives.

• Contribute to projects that enhance the program’s ongoing efforts and promote the organization’s mission and objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a current 2L (or part-time equivalent) or LLM student at an ABA accredited law school.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.

• Genuine interest in animal advocacy is essential.

• Exceptional legal research and writing abilities, including the capacity to adapt voice and style for different audiences.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Positive demeanor and ability to collaborate effectively in a mission-focused, team-oriented setting.

• Openness to undertake a variety of tasks within the growing field of animal law.

• Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.

• Capability to work independently and remotely.

• Discretion in handling confidential and sensitive aspects of the work is required.

• Access to a computer with internet and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.

• Familiarity with animal law is preferred.

• A personal address in the United States is required.

• Must primarily work from the personal address in the United States.
