Linux Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee, track, and sustain Debian-based Linux systems in a production setting

• Plan, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure predominantly using AWS

• Develop and uphold infrastructure automation through tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CDK

• Create and maintain Bash or Python scripts to automate standard operations and enhance reliability

• Guarantee system performance, availability, and security

• Respond to incidents and resolve issues in a timely manner

• Set up and manage monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch

• Provide support for containerized environments and orchestration tools including Docker, ECS, EKS, and Fargate

• Collaborate with engineering and development teams on CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes

• Keep documentation and adhere to Git version control best practices

• Perform additional tasks as required to ensure the smooth operation of the department

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience as a Linux System Administrator or in a comparable position

• Proven experience managing Debian-based Linux distributions in production settings

• Comprehensive understanding of AWS services such as EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch

• Practical experience with Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CDK

• Expertise in Bash, Python, or other similar scripting languages

• Awareness of networking principles, firewalls, DNS, and load balancers

• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch

• Knowledge of Docker, ECS, EKS, or Fargate is advantageous

• Proficient in Git and version control systems

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions is preferred

• Understanding of high availability and failover strategies is preferred

• Exposure to HIPAA or SOC 2 compliance standards is an asset

• Full professional proficiency in communication and documentation

• Available during standard US business hours, 9am–5pm EST or 8:30am–4:30pm EST
