Lingala VRI/OPI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of ethics.

• Always be prepared to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry the interpreter operates in, particularly in healthcare and medical fields.

• Accurately render all messages in their entirety, without adding, omitting, or substituting content.

• Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the interpreting process.

• Enable communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and complete interpretation of messages.

• Implement standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report effectively to your team leader.

• Adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Lingala."

• A minimum of 1 year of over-the-phone interpretation experience with a reputable interpretation company is advantageous, though not mandatory.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology is preferable but not required.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is a plus.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are beneficial (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Possess high emotional intelligence and an appreciation for diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
