• Promptly respond to interpreting sessions and carry out interpretation in a courteous and professional manner.
• Accurately convey concepts and meanings in line with established interpretation protocols, ensuring no omissions or additions.
• Articulate clearly in both languages, utilizing appropriate pronunciation, enunciation, and courteous expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout all interpreting sessions consistently.
• Stay calm during interpreting sessions, particularly if one of the primary speakers is incoherent or distressed, especially in emergency situations like 911 calls.
• Adhere to punctuality and availability during designated work hours.
• Comply with client instructions and protocols to meet the expectations of the Limited English-speaking Person (LEP), avoiding interaction with the LEP without the client's consent.
• Possess an understanding of protocols and terminology across various industries, including but not limited to Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
• Show dedication to cultural sensitivity and effective collaboration in a diverse environment.
• Some calls may involve high emotions and/or stress. Interpreters may need to remain on a call for extended durations without breaks due to call nature or may experience high call volumes. The interpreter must consistently provide the required company standards of service within this dynamic setting.
• Proficient in Lingala and English, with expertise in the associated cultural dynamics.
• Capable of delivering cultural competency and recognizing regional and accent differences to effectively communicate with the LEP.
• Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking abilities to ensure high accuracy during interpretation.
• Ability to concentrate, maintain detachment from the conversation, remain neutral and objective at all times, and handle calls that involve sensitive topics such as end-of-life discussions, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters related to sexual orientation and/or gender expression.
• Education or professional experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation is preferred.
• Must be adaptable to any LLS technology advancements that enhance service delivery and meet client needs.
• Minimum age of 18 years is required.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Applicants for employment in the US must possess work authorization that does not require future sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with LanguageLine Solutions (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN visa, or any other non-immigrant status).
• High school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
• Candidates currently employed by a client of LanguageLine Solutions or an affiliated LanguageLine Solutions business may not be eligible for consideration.
• Ability to read and write in the requested languages is highly preferred.
