This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
• Oversee artistic direction and ensure quality standards are upheld.
• Collaborate with Leads and fellow Lighting Artists to design exceptional lighting schemes aligned with the project's universe and visual style.
• Illuminate scenes or levels utilizing reference photographs and/or concept art materials.
• Enhance narrative storytelling through the strategic use of color, light, and atmosphere.
• Light scenes/levels or cinematics according to both creative and technical briefs while adhering to deadlines.
• Engage in reviews, adapt to, and professionally incorporate feedback from leads and peers.
• Participate in research and development initiatives to investigate new techniques and enhance pipelines and workflows.
• Collaborate with developers across various disciplines to ensure seamless integration of work into the build.
• Balance visual quality with performance requirements for the game.
• Review and playtest your work within the editor and in-game.
• Minimum of 3 years in AAA console/PC game development, including at least 1 year of experience with Unreal Engine.
• Strong portfolio that showcases examples of world and local lighting work.
• Ability to artistically interpret concepts or creatively expand beyond initial ideas.
• Comprehensive understanding of traditional art skills along with foundational design principles (shape, form, texture, value, and color).
• Extensive knowledge of Physically Based Rendering workflows.
• Good grasp of the performance limitations and capabilities of the current console generation.
• Capability to create all necessary content for lighting, including but not limited to textures, IES profiles, HDR maps, materials, scripts, etc.
• Familiarity with basic photography concepts such as exposure value (EV), shutter speed, ISO, and composition.
• Adaptability in approach and techniques.
• Willingness to accept and implement feedback.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new styles, techniques, and workflows.
• Ability to collaborate with department leads and various teams to tackle artistic and technical challenges.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Self-motivated individual.
• Nice to have: Degree in any art-related field, knowledge of photography, proficiency in Unreal Engine (or other game engines), and familiarity with rendering engines such as Renderman, V-Ray, or Arnold. Ability to showcase breakdowns or work-in-progress images of completed lighting projects.
