Licensed Physician Reviewer, Orthopedic Surgery – Spine

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Dane Street operates as an Independent Review Organization and is a nationwide provider of Utilization Review services, among other offerings.

• We are expanding our panel of physicians, creating opportunities for non-traditional roles and supplemental income.

• This position offers teleworking flexibility for physicians, allowing you to manage a caseload tailored to your schedule.

• Our physician panel consists of independent contract reviewers (1099), who are compensated on a per-case basis.

• We are seeking physicians specialized in orthopedic surgery to evaluate the medical necessity of treatment requests.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess a current, unrestricted Medical License in New York.

• Certification from the Workers Compensation Board is required.

• Active practice is necessary.

• Board Certification is mandatory.

• There is no establishment of a doctor/patient relationship, and no treatment is provided; the role involves giving advisory-only opinions.

• The typical turnaround time (TAT) for cases is 1-5 business days, depending on the type of review. Same-day cases are infrequent but possible. Dane Street will keep you informed about required turnaround times and will handle all administrative tasks, allowing you to focus on clinical decision-making.

• Dane Street provides an efficient case flow and an intuitive work portal. We manage all communications, organize and categorize medical records, support all administrative processes, prepare cases thoroughly, and ensure the quality and timely delivery of all determinations and reports.

• A chronological list of medical records, along with all treatment guidelines used for determinations, is available in an easy-to-access format.

• In situations requiring peer-to-peer calls (for adverse determinations), Dane Street’s peer coordinators will arrange provider availability.

• Dane Street offers initial training and provides a continuous point of contact for any inquiries related to completing reviews.
