Licensed Admissions Clinical Reviewer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate complex admission assessments, including supporting documents, treatment history, and collateral information.

• Analyze clinical presentation, acuity, risk factors, treatment requirements, family dynamics, and readiness for residential treatment.

• Assess clinical suitability for admission and identify the Muir Wood program that aligns best with each prospective client's needs.

• Authorize admissions within designated authority and escalate cases that necessitate additional medical, psychiatric, or executive review.

• Identify when supplementary records, assessments, stabilization, safety planning, or a different level of care is required prior to admission.

• Record admission decisions along with the clinical rationale for approval, deferral, escalation, or denial.

• Engage with parents and caregivers to clarify clinical histories, recent behaviors, safety issues, family dynamics, and treatment expectations.

• Collaborate with referring clinicians, hospitals, schools, and other professionals when more clinical context is necessary.

• Convey clinical recommendations and decisions in a clear, compassionate, and sensitive manner.

• Assist families in understanding requests for additional information, stabilization, safety planning, or alternative treatment options.

• Act as a clinical resource for the Admissions team regarding elevated, complex, or ambiguous referrals.

• Collaborate with Clinical Directors to evaluate program suitability, current milieu considerations, accommodations, and program capabilities.

• Communicate pertinent clinical risks, precautions, accommodations, and initial treatment priorities to the receiving program prior to admission.

• Foster consistent clinical decision-making across programs while considering differences in population, capabilities, and current milieu.

• Participate in case reviews and contribute to the enhancement of admission criteria, escalation pathways, and clinical review practices.

• Recognize recurring referral patterns, clinical gaps, and opportunities to enhance assessment quality and admissions processes.

• Conduct pre-admission clinical assessments, consultations, and placement decisions without maintaining an ongoing therapy caseload or providing ongoing treatment to prospective clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree or higher in social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field.

• Active, unrestricted independent clinical license, such as LCSW, LMFT, LPCC/LPC, or licensed psychologist.

• Minimum of five years of experience in behavioral healthcare, including substantial experience in adolescent residential treatment.

• Strong assessment skills with complex clinical presentations, including suicidality, self-harm, aggression, substance use, trauma, eating disorders, neurodivergence, family instability, and elopement risk.

• Proven ability to make sound clinical placement and risk decisions when information may be incomplete, changing, or conflicting.

• Experience working collaboratively with admissions professionals, families, referring clinicians, and residential program leadership.

• Exceptional clinical documentation and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to make timely decisions while upholding appropriate clinical boundaries and escalation procedures.

• Ability to work autonomously and handle sensitive information with discretion in a remote setting.

• Preferred: experience as a residential Clinical Director, senior clinician, clinical admissions reviewer, assessment clinician, or a similar clinical decision-making position.

• Preferred: experience across multiple residential programs or levels of behavioral healthcare.

• Preferred: knowledge of adolescent co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment.

• Preferred: experience in assessing neurodivergent adolescents and identifying suitable accommodations and program supports.

• Preferred: familiarity with California's adolescent residential treatment regulations and standards.

• Must be able to work from anywhere in the United States, adhering to applicable employment and licensing regulations.

• Availability during scheduled working hours is crucial.
