This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Collaborate with the art, engineering, and production teams to support and execute the defined creative vision, raising any questions or inconsistencies that may arise during the development process.
β’ Adhere to production schedules and constraints, implementing level content in a timely and iterative fashion while communicating potential risks or dependencies to relevant team members.
β’ Design and construct levels from start to finish, including layout, combat scenarios, traversal mechanics, pacing, player flow, and objectives.
β’ Develop and implement tactical combat spaces that facilitate flanking, cover usage, squad coordination, sightlines, and various approaches to objectives.
β’ Script and configure gameplay events, encounters, AI behaviors, triggers, and environmental interactions to enhance mission functionality and player experience.
β’ Regularly test, debug, and iterate on levels, identifying and resolving issues related to navigation, combat balance, progression barriers, readability, and edge cases.
β’ Provide constructive responses to feedback, refining layouts, encounters, pacing, and mission flow to enhance clarity, challenge, and the overall player experience.
β’ Maintain a solid understanding of core gameplay systems and AI behaviors, adjusting layouts and encounters to promote tactical gameplay and accommodate multiple player strategies.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience in game development, specifically focused on level design within action, shooter, or combat-oriented games.
β’ Proven experience in shipping at least one title, preferably in the shooter genre, with a comprehensive understanding of the entire content lifecycle from implementation to polish.
β’ Ability to work independently on assigned content, managing tasks effectively, iterating based on feedback, and resolving implementation challenges in a dynamic production setting.
β’ Strong collaboration and communication abilities, including working closely with other designers, artists, engineers, and audio partners to create cohesive gameplay experiences.
β’ Familiarity with level editing and gameplay scripting in Unreal Engine, demonstrating confidence in building, debugging, and maintaining gameplay spaces directly within the engine.
β’ A robust understanding of combat space design, player navigation, encounter pacing, and environmental readability.
