Legal Writer, Litigation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Prepare and modify litigation documents such as motions, complaints, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and briefs.

• Perform legal research utilizing LexisNexis and other similar research platforms.

• Review, proofread, and enhance legal documents for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to compliance standards.

• Ensure that filings meet the specific court rules and formatting requirements of the relevant jurisdiction.

• Work collaboratively with attorneys to assist in the development of litigation strategies and case progression.

• Manage numerous writing tasks and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

• Simplify complex legal concepts into clear, persuasive written formats.

⛳️ Requirements

• JD degree or equivalent legal qualification is preferred.

• 2–4 years of experience in legal writing, litigation support, or a related field.

• Exceptional legal research and analytical writing capabilities.

• Familiarity with litigation processes and legal terminology.

• Experience with Bluebook citation standards.

• Preferable knowledge of personal injury litigation in Maryland, Virginia, and/or Washington, DC.

• Experience with SmartAdvocate or other similar case management software is preferred.

• Strong organizational abilities and keen attention to detail.

• Capacity to manage confidential information responsibly.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
