Legal Specialist, Business Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Provide ongoing legal assistance to commercial, marketing, and operational teams by translating legal requirements into actionable business advice.

• Act as the primary reviewer and issue identifier for routine commercial and operational issues, recognizing legal and compliance risks and escalating them to attorneys when necessary.

• Assist in marketing and claims review processes, collaborating closely with Regulatory, Quality, Intellectual Property, Privacy, and Compliance partners.

• Help manage contracting-related issues by working alongside lawyers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure efficient execution.

• Enhance and maintain legal processes, templates, and guidance materials to promote consistency, efficiency, and scalability.

• Provide training and advice to business stakeholders on legal processes, claims, and fundamental legal concepts associated with marketing and promotional efforts.

• Support attorneys in the Dental Solutions and Health Information Systems sectors with various day-to-day legal tasks and initiatives.

• Facilitate coordination among Legal, Regulatory, Intellectual Property, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment and timely execution.

• Manage priorities across multiple workflows and contribute to the ongoing improvement of legal processes and tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher, OR a diploma or professional certification in Paralegal Studies or a related field.

• At least seven (7) years of experience in a legal, compliance, regulatory, contracts, or corporate legal support setting.

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a legal specialist, senior paralegal, or equivalent legal support role within a corporate, legal, compliance, regulatory, or similar context.

• Experience in supporting one or more of the following areas: claims review, marketing review, contract management, or operational legal processes.
