Legal Engineer – QA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Assess and enhance the performance of NetDocuments’ systems and products in tasks requiring legal expertise for quality assurance purposes.

• Create and execute legal quality assurance evaluations along with supporting software platforms.

• Identify, validate, and recommend strategies to elevate legal quality within NetDocuments’ systems, enabling customers to derive greater value from their data.

• Collaborate with and provide guidance to product managers, engineering managers, and designers throughout the organization.

• Establish accurate legal AI outputs and develop reliable, reproducible evaluations and software tools.

• Examine specifications, prompts, taxonomies, and product content for legal correctness.

• Counsel product teams on whether designs align with the thought processes and workflows of legal professionals.

• Identify and confirm enhancements to systems, including prompts, agentic workflows, new features, and technologies.

• Act as a member of the enablement team for product teams rather than as an external customer; this position is not forward deployed.

• Report directly to the Manager of Legal Engineering.

• Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Capability to communicate legal concepts to technologists and technological concepts to lawyers.

• Proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritize projects to meet deadlines.

• Strong attention to detail.

• JD, LLB, or equivalent legal qualification, or a Bachelor’s Degree plus 3+ years of direct experience in legal practice, legal knowledge management, or legal operations.

• Experience in developing executable software systems that operate on legal data and enhance legal workflows.

• Familiarity with structured data and formats such as JSON, XML, and Markdown.

• Experience utilizing agentic AI systems for legal and software development purposes.

• Experience in evaluating non-deterministic systems, including data curation and generation, grading, evaluation metrics, and techniques.

• Proven experience in building and enhancing agentic workflows for legal tasks.

• Knowledge of Computational Law techniques beyond machine learning.

• Understanding of harness development and AI-assisted software development lifecycle practices.

• Experience in full-stack software development.
