Legal Counsel, HR Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a point of escalation for the Elevate HR services team, offering legal support and advice.

• Provide insights on risk assessment, compliance elements, and legally sound recommendations for client HR partners.

• Assist client HR partners in framing compliant guidance within the service boundaries and contractual constraints of Paylocity.

• Offer internal guidance on employment law matters, including wage and hour regulations, leave, accommodations, employee relations, terminations, and workplace conduct.

• Evaluate employment situations based on client-specific facts, policies, workforce practices, and relevant laws.

• Aid in the interpretation of multi-state employment law obligations.

• Design and deliver training sessions, legal updates, and educational resources.

• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Elevate HR leadership, and other internal stakeholders on legal parameters and escalation guidelines.

• Engage in cross-functional projects aimed at HR compliance, risk reduction, and service excellence.

• Develop internal tools and resources to ensure consistent and compliant HR advisory services.

• Assist with other Elevate offerings, product compliance, and internal employment issues as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required.

• Must be admitted to practice law in good standing in any State / District of Columbia bar.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in employment law.

• Experience with multi-state employment law is necessary.

• Capacity to clearly communicate legal concepts to individuals without a legal background.

• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced setting.

• Preferred experience in supporting HR outsourcing or employer services organizations.

• Capability to remain seated for extended periods, generally 7–8 hours a day.

• Proficient in using computers, phone systems, and multiple software applications simultaneously.

• Availability for work five days a week during specified hours.
