This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Serving as the litigation subject matter expert (SME) for the Group, overseeing all phases of litigation related to the Group’s business and products (including SIPPs and associated investments).
• Evaluating and responding to pre-action communications.
• Advising the business on legal and commercial strategies, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and conduct risk frameworks.
• Managing and facilitating the litigation process, which includes overseeing routine litigation and directing external counsel as necessary.
• Coordinating with our Insurance Manager, which involves drafting and managing notifications, securing coverage, providing updates, and aiding in settlement negotiations.
• Cultivating and sustaining productive relationships with the Group’s external legal advisors.
• Keeping updated heatmaps that illustrate the status and progress of the Group’s ongoing litigation.
• Assisting and advising our Customer Resolutions Team on significant complaints, including developing strategies and drafting submissions to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
• Compiling reports for board and executive committees concerning significant issues and the evolving landscape of the Group's litigation.
• Supporting the Finance team on significant matters that require provisioning.
• Offering comprehensive contentious and risk-based legal counsel regarding the Group’s financial services products and operations.
• Creating and maintaining precedents, playbooks, and tools to promote consistency, efficiency, and best practices within the Legal team.
• Identifying process improvement opportunities (within the Legal team and across the business) and implementing solutions to enhance risk management, efficiency, and outcomes.
• Fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business to ensure effective management of disputes and complaints.
• Contributing insights to governance forums and risk committees regarding litigation and dispute trends.
• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in dispute resolution within a financial services context, legally entitled to work in the UK.
• Familiarity with the FCA and PRA regulatory framework.
• Knowledge of trust law.
• Understanding of SIPP and platform structures along with related products (e.g., ISA, GIA and access to off-platform products) is desirable but not mandatory.
• Proficient in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Exceptional relationship-building capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to groups, engage with a diverse workforce, and convey complex concepts in an easily understandable manner.
