• Lead and mentor a team of talented VFX Artists, fostering their growth and promoting a collaborative, inclusive atmosphere.
• Create and execute compelling real-time VFX that enhance a variety of in-game scenarios and player experiences.
• Encourage technical proficiency and artistic innovation throughout the VFX pipeline.
• Assist team members in establishing meaningful objectives, advancing their careers, and evaluating performance.
• Work in partnership with other departments—gameplay, cinematics, environments—to produce impactful and immersive visuals.
• Investigate and prototype new workflows, tools, and techniques to expand the possibilities of real-time VFX.
• Ensure all VFX content is optimized for performance and adheres to technical specifications.
• Manage external collaborations: create briefs, assess outsourced work, and uphold high-quality standards.
• Coordinate with Directors and Production to synchronize VFX planning with project milestones and schedules.
• Assist in maintaining a productive and scalable production pipeline.
• Over 8 years of experience as a VFX Artist in the game development industry.
• Successfully shipped at least one AAA title as a Lead VFX Artist or in a similar senior leadership capacity.
• Demonstrated success in a leadership role within a creative setting—someone who has guided others, influenced project outcomes, and facilitated team development.
• Extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 and the development of real-time VFX.
• Strong skills in both real-time and baked simulations.
• Comprehensive understanding of VFX pipelines and tools, including SideFX Houdini.
• Familiarity with PBR workflows, shaders, real-time rendering, and lighting techniques.
• Advanced capabilities in performance optimization and debugging.
• Ability to independently spearhead high-impact projects and address complex challenges.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• A robust portfolio demonstrating expertise in VFX for games is required. Applicants must include a portfolio with their application, as those without one will not be considered.
