📋 Description

• Lead qualitative and quantitative UX research initiatives that inform product teams.

• Identify, define, and gain support for strategic research efforts.

• Present research findings and recommendations to stakeholders effectively.

• Collaborate strategically with cross-functional leads to promote the adoption of human-centered recommendations.

• Guide planning and strategy by analyzing and synthesizing user, product, service, and organizational requirements.

• Advance UX research best practices and enhance team processes.

• Mentor junior team members and oversee contractors.

• Document and publicly share research methodologies and outcomes with the Wikimedia community.

• Conduct foundational and evaluative research focused on the “Increase our Reach” initiative.

• Explore user experiences beyond Wikipedia, including perceptions of Wikipedia results in search engines and AI chatbots, content attribution designs, and future audience experiments.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in conducting UX research within a product organization.

• Demonstrated success in leading impactful research projects in fast-paced settings and achieving organizational results.

• In-depth knowledge of qualitative methods, such as interviews, contextual inquiry, and diary studies.

• Proficiency in conducting end-to-end quantitative research, including surveys, large-scale unmoderated testing, large-scale diary studies, or quantitative UX benchmarking.

• Expertise in experimental design and statistical analysis.

• Capability to translate research insights into actionable recommendations for product teams.

• Master's or PhD degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Behavioral Economics, Linguistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English, along with proficiency in asynchronous communication.

• Ability to collaborate across diverse, multicultural, and multidisciplinary teams and communities.

• Proficiency in languages other than English is an advantage.

• Experience contributing to Wikimedia projects is a bonus.

• Familiarity with conducting research that has a global impact is a plus.

• Experience working with international vendors, contractors, volunteer communities, and projects is advantageous.

• Availability for critical meetings and synchronous work from 15:00 to 19:00 UTC.

• Willingness to travel up to four times a year.

• Non-US candidates must possess current work authorization for their location.
