Lead Transmission Line Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Act as an Engineer on electric transmission line design initiatives for high-voltage overhead and underground systems ranging from 46kV to 345kV.

• Provide support to a significant electric utility.

• Implement NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other relevant standards in engineering and design.

• Engage in overhead systems, voltage conversion projects, new capacity initiatives, and infrastructure replacement efforts.

• Conduct engineering analyses.

• Create bidding documents.

• Develop plans and specifications.

• Prepare materials procurement and construction documentation.

• Collaborate with a diverse team at Leidos.

• Interact with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management teams.

• Formulate project scopes, budgets, and proposals.

• Make regular site visits throughout the client’s utility service area.

• Operate in a client office as necessary and/or travel periodically.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

• At least eight (8) years of relevant experience in designing electric utility transmission systems.

• Proficient in reviewing complete transmission line designs, including PLS-CADD models, foundations, materials, plans and profiles, and construction packages.

• Familiarity with NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements.

• Understanding of construction specifications, materials procurement processes, project schedules, and construction work packages.

• Capability to develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.

• Ability to work efficiently both in a team setting and independently.

• Established communication skills with clients and project teams.

• Proficiency in PLS-CADD and POLE.

• Experience with LPILE or FAD tools.

• Competent in Microsoft Office.

• Work authorization for U.S. positions is expected based on the U.S.-specific posting context.

• EIT, FE, or Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred.

• Experience with Bentley MicroStation is preferred.

• Familiarity with Bentley ProjectWise is preferred.

• Proficiency in Mathcad is preferred.

• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD is preferred.

• Background in Construction Management and Support is preferred.
