Lead Substation Physical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage the creation and development of substation physical design drawings.

• Conduct engineering analyses such as AC Load, Illumination, Grounding, and Lightning Shielding studies.

• Generate Bill of Materials in accordance with design specifications.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to guarantee high-quality deliverables.

• Assist in client meetings, technical discussions, and project planning initiatives.

• Engage in site inspections and constructability evaluations.

• Analyze and integrate vendor information into design outputs.

• Ensure adherence to industry regulations (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC) and utility standards.

• Commit to the ongoing enhancement of engineering, technical, and professional expertise.

• Mentor and support junior engineers and designers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a preference for a focus in power systems.

• Over 8 years of experience in substation physical design for electric utilities.

• Preferred 12+ years of experience in substation physical design for electric utilities.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or the capability to obtain one within 6 months (preferred).

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or a comparable design software.

• Knowledgeable about substation design standards and practices (IEEE, NESC, utility specifications).

• Capacity to oversee multiple projects and mentor junior personnel.
