Lead Substation Physical Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• In the role of a seasoned 3D Substation Physical Designer, you will be responsible for creating 3D Models using Revit or Autocad 3D for High Voltage (HV) Substations and producing electrical physical 2D drawings.

• Generate substation drawings by leveraging your knowledge of the NEC, NESC, and/or client specifications.

• Create thorough substation layouts and elevations derived from Single Line Diagrams and basic sketches.

• Prepare detailed bills of material for substation power equipment, HV connectors, conduit/trough, and cable trays.

• Assemble comprehensive drawing packages with minimal or no supervision based on sketches provided by others.

• Conduct meticulous review checks of your own work as well as the work of colleagues.

• Apply your experience as a 3D Modeler to execute the BIM Execution Plans effectively.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology is required.

• At least 7 years of experience in HV Substation physical design is necessary.

• Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards is essential.

• Extensive experience with US Utility substation design standards and a solid technical understanding of LV/MV/HV equipment and associated accessories is required.

• Ability to produce HV substation general arrangements and installation details with minimal supervision.

• Comprehensive knowledge and expertise in the latest versions of Autodesk Revit, Autocad 3D, SDS Navisworks, and their integration with other software.

• Proven MCAD skills, including general usage and tool configuration, with exposure to multiple 3D engineering design tools (such as Creo, E3D, Solidworks, Inventor) and the IFC exchange format.
