
Lead Solar Field Service Technician II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Diagnose and repair utility-scale solar systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, and string circuits.
• Conduct various testing procedures: LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, and IR scans.
• Supervise and guide a team of 2 or more field technicians at active solar farm locations.
• Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure projects adhere to schedules.
• Execute operations and maintenance (O&M) for utility-scale solar plants.
• Review completed tasks to confirm adherence to quality and safety standards.
• Uphold safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA 70E) on-site.
• Identify system problems and address them directly in the field.
• Complete work orders, maintain service logs, and handle necessary documentation.
• Operate and care for company vehicles and tools.
• Mentor and assist junior technicians in the field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in utility-scale solar (solar farms / ground-mount systems).
• Proven experience in crew leadership or serving as the lead technician on-site.
• Background in working with megawatt-scale PV systems (NOT residential rooftop solar).
• Strong skills in electrical troubleshooting and repair (inverters, DC systems, power electronics).
• Experience in solar O&M / maintenance tasks.
• Familiarity with OSHA / NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Proficient in using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and other testing instruments.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
