Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with our hardware and software product teams to guarantee that our products are designed and engineered to provide a top-tier web experience for our gamers.

• Familiarize yourself with our technology stack. Our new web application is developed in React and deployed on AWS using containers.

• Deliver a new feature within our cloud platform.

• Assess the architecture of our cloud platform, identify potential refactoring opportunities, and coordinate with product management and engineering to strategize any necessary modifications.

• Support the product team in outlining the quarterly roadmap of tasks for the cloud platform team.

• Continue to innovate and enhance our web-based offerings for gamers.

• Experiment with and provide feedback on unannounced hardware products scheduled for release next year.

• Collaborate with our hardware and software product teams to align on the vision for upcoming products.

• Assist in defining hardware and web APIs to ensure seamless interaction between our applications and hardware/cloud services, delivering an exceptional user experience for our customers.

• Proactively refactor code to maintain a consistently clean design with sufficient test coverage.

• Evaluate new programming languages, frameworks, and tools, recommending when they should be integrated or migrated to.

• Work across software teams to educate others on best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in full-stack software engineering.

• Experience in building scalable cloud solutions, including container orchestration, database design, network infrastructure, and distributed systems design.

• Proven experience in designing and developing web back ends and web user interfaces.

• Demonstrated capability to build and maintain reliable, high-availability cloud platforms, with hands-on experience in observability (logging, tracing, monitoring) and resilience engineering.

• Established experience leading a platform engineering team to deliver well-documented and thoroughly tested cloud solutions.

• Proficiency in utilizing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to enhance delivery, improve code quality, and boost engineering efficiency.

• A passion for mentoring and uplifting fellow engineers.

• A commitment to continuous learning and excelling in the field of software engineering.

• Experience managing a team of software engineers to produce well-tested and documented software.
