Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee large-scale, intricate technical projects that span multiple teams.

• Assess technology and architectural options, convey trade-offs, and make informed decisions.

• Contribute to both high-level and low-level design, as well as coding efforts.

• Act as a role model in software engineering practices.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers across various platforms and domains.

• Work alongside principal and senior engineers on organization-wide platform, process, and technology decisions.

• Initiate and steer technical projects and process enhancements aimed at improving code quality, reducing technical debt, and boosting developer productivity.

• Mentor engineers by sharing technical expertise, industry best practices, and leadership abilities.

• Develop knowledge of product and business domains, focusing on paying users and vertical markets.

• Create innovative features for Carousell users.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development.

• At least 2 years of experience in product development as a Lead Engineer or in a similar technical leadership role.

• Proven experience as a technical lead across various engineering teams.

• Demonstrated success in building scalable systems.

• Familiarity with microservices and experience with highly available web-scale systems.

• Solid computer science foundation coupled with practical experience in software development, architecture, and design.

• Comprehensive understanding of distributed system concepts, challenges, and solution patterns.

• Knowledge of contemporary technology stacks.

• Strong programming skills in Go, Python, or Java.

• Extensive knowledge of open-source and cloud-native software.

• In-depth understanding of storage technologies such as Postgres, Cassandra, Redis, and Elasticsearch.

• A user-centric approach combined with empathy.

• Drive and resourcefulness to navigate and overcome challenges.
