This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take charge of the technical direction and architecture for Bankjoy's financial empowerment product aimed at kids and families.
• Lead the design of solutions and quarterly planning efforts.
• Steer architectural and technology choices in alignment with product and business objectives.
• Ensure that systems comply with financial industry security, regulatory, and data privacy standards.
• Offer technical guidance and conduct code reviews.
• Decompose initiatives into milestones and deliverables while managing scope, dependencies, risks, and technical debt.
• Track delivery progress and communicate any risks or obstacles.
• Directly engage in coding, testing, debugging, and development tasks.
• Create and maintain backend services utilizing C#, .NET Core, and SQL Server.
• Develop frontend components using TypeScript and Angular.
• Contribute to or oversee mobile application development.
• Lead and mentor engineers through one-on-one sessions, feedback, and coaching.
• Hire and onboard new engineering talent.
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams on roadmaps, feature scopes, and technical estimates.
• Work alongside QA to establish testing standards, quality gates, and criteria for release readiness.
• Partner with platform and security teams to align on infrastructure and compliance requirements.
• Supervise unit test coverage, integration testing, and the quality of CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement practices for monitoring, alerting, and observability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to production incidents with root cause analysis and retrospectives.
• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.
• A minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership or lead engineer position.
• Relevant experience in banking, payments, financial wellness, or financial empowerment technology; applicants lacking this background will not be considered.
• Strong expertise in C#, .NET Core, Entity Framework, and SQL Server.
• Strong proficiency in Angular and TypeScript.
• Ability to design scalable, secure, and high-performance systems within a regulated financial context.
• Experience leading engineering teams, providing direction, coaching engineers, and ensuring timely delivery.
• Comprehensive understanding of security, compliance, and data privacy requirements for financial applications.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containerization, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Must be available to work during Eastern Time Zone hours.
