This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the application engineering strategy and its implementation across backend, mobile, and desktop platforms.

• Create dependable systems for AI-driven workflows, encompassing state management, orchestration, tool utilization, retries, fallbacks, and failure management.

• Develop APIs and abstractions that link AI systems to tangible product experiences.

• Guide a small, experienced engineering team through design evaluations, code assessments, and practical mentorship.

• Make significant trade-offs regarding latency, reliability, cost, security, and user experience.

• Set up foundational production elements such as observability, monitoring, testing, and operational excellence.

• Collaborate with Machine Learning leadership to transform model capabilities into robust, deployable product experiences.

• Maintain a straightforward, manageable architecture that's prepared for scaling.

• Ensure the delivery of observable, monitored, and stable production systems.

• Achieve measurable improvements in latency and reliability over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) is mandatory.

• Extensive experience in leading application or product engineering for intricate systems.

• Strong practical background in building and deploying backend systems utilized in production environments.

• Familiarity with developing AI-driven products or systems that integrate with contemporary Machine Learning (ML)/Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities.

• Excellent technical judgment with the ability to make decisions based on incomplete information.

• Comfortable working across backend and client platforms, with in-depth expertise in at least one.

• A strong inclination towards ownership, delivering products, and learning from real-world applications.

• High standards for code quality, reliability, and engineering principles.

• Must be prepared to undertake a 60-minute coding assessment.
