Lead Software Engineer – Agentic Industrial Emissions Platform, React, Go

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of scalable APIs, services, and user interfaces that prioritize accessibility.

• Spearhead the modernization of legacy systems into modular, event-driven, API-first components.

• Deliver enhancements and AI-native features across both front-end and back-end systems.

• Provide technical guidance and make engineering decisions regarding scalability, maintainability, performance, and product impact.

• Ensure reliability and operational excellence through telemetry, SLOs, error budgets, on-call rotations, incident response, and continuous service improvement.

• Advocate for DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD, deployment automation, monitoring, and operations at the application level.

• Collaborate with Platform Engineers in a lean DevOps shared service framework.

• Mentor engineers and encourage the adoption of engineering best practices.

• Promote code quality, documentation, automated testing, performance, security, and maintainability.

• Take ownership of the quality and production readiness of deliverables.

• Work closely with Product Management, Design, AI, Platform Engineering, and other engineering teams on discovery, technical trade-offs, and delivery.

• Address customer pain points with scalable engineering solutions.

• Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and potential improvements in platform architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in full stack software engineering, encompassing both front-end and back-end development.

• Proficient with contemporary front-end technologies, especially React or similar frameworks.

• Strong back-end engineering expertise, preferably including GoLang or similar general-purpose programming languages.

• Experience in designing and developing scalable APIs, services, and cloud-native applications.

• In-depth understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, automation, and incident response.

• Proven track record of delivering secure, observable, high-quality software in production environments.

• Strong emphasis on code quality, automated testing, documentation, performance, and maintainability.

• Ability to lead technical design discussions and influence architectural choices.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across Product, Design, Platform, and Engineering teams.

• Ownership mindset and accountability for results from design through to production.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Experience with event-driven architectures, distributed systems, or microservices.

• Proven experience in modernizing legacy systems into modular, scalable platforms.

• Experience working within cross-functional product teams.

• Background in mentoring engineers or contributing to engineering standards.

• Exposure to AI-enabled, data-intensive, sustainability, carbon intelligence, or enterprise SaaS products.

• Knowledge of observability, reliability engineering, SLOs, error budgets, and production incident management.
