Lead Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and expand the Security team, encompassing hiring, performance management, prioritization, and career advancement.

• Oversee Canary's security and compliance initiatives, which include the control framework, audits, policies, and risk management.

• Act as the main security point of contact for Canary.

• Manage vendor and third-party risk assessments.

• Develop, maintain, and disseminate company-wide security policies and standards.

• Conduct security awareness training and programs.

• Establish the technical direction for security tools and solutions.

• Engage actively in architecture and threat-model evaluations.

• Communicate Canary's security posture to customers, partners, auditors, and executives.

• Execute audits and present findings to customer security teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in security engineering.

• At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role as a manager or technical lead.

• Demonstrated experience managing compliance programs from start to finish, including SOC 2 Type II, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, or similar standards.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong technical background in AWS cloud security, identity and access management, application security, and vulnerability management.

• Familiarity with vendor risk management processes.

• Experience in reviewing security provisions in customer and vendor contracts.

• Proven ability to create pragmatic, risk-based security programs within a growth-stage SaaS environment.

• Experience in the hospitality, fintech, or payments sectors is a plus.

• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are advantageous.
