This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Calibrate, install, maintain, and repair protective relays and related equipment.
• Maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair intricate control systems, protective relay systems, substation and electric utility protection systems, SCADA systems, and station automation systems.
• Interpret scopes of work at the project level.
• Plan for commissioning and resource allocation.
• Lead test activities for the team while ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
• Analyze substation drawings, such as single-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
• Draft procedures and test plans for maintenance and construction tasks.
• Create isolation plans and functional guidelines.
• Assess relay voltage and current inputs, metering, alarms, function switches, and trip functionalities.
• Diagnose and repair substation relaying and control equipment.
• Commission substations, power equipment, relaying, pilot channel equipment, controls, and communication devices.
• Offer technical support for projects to Field Service personnel.
• Mentor junior field service staff.
• Act as a subject matter expert in protective relaying and provide technical leadership for small project teams.
• A minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checks, relay calibration, and testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
• Desirable experience in substation design, construction, commissioning, and SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing.
• Understanding of three-phase power systems and power system protection and control schemes.
• Familiarity with test equipment and related software.
• Proficient in using test equipment and tools as well as wiring.
• Capability to interpret wiring and elementary diagrams.
• Basic testing skills necessary to carry out the listed tasks.
• Fundamental PC skills.
• Quick learning ability to apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
• Effective communication skills with diverse groups.
• Ability to learn and implement client switching procedures and safety protocols.
• Capability to reference and complete tasks as outlined in relevant specifications.
• Willingness to perform regular fieldwork both indoors and outdoors.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, business acumen, and management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Possession of a valid Driver’s license and a clean driving record.
