This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, design, and QA teams to establish testing strategies, quality objectives, and risk management protocols.
• Advocate for contemporary quality practices that enhance coverage and speed up feedback.
• Discover enhancements through tools, workflow improvements, simulation, and data-driven validation.
• Create and uphold quality plans that balance hands-on testing, system validation, player assessment, and scalable methodologies.
• Test gameplay systems, progression, inventory, persistence, multiplayer, social systems, UI flows, stability, and performance metrics.
• Work alongside engineers to enhance test coverage, build verification, testing utilities, simulation tools, and quality workflows.
• Establish player simulation methodologies for multiplayer, progression, persistence, social interactions, and large-scale gameplay.
• Utilize telemetry, gameplay data, crash reporting, and quality metrics to evaluate trends and risks.
• Generate bug reports, assist in triage, validate fixes, and communicate player impact and root causes.
• Formulate testing methods for interconnected online systems and live-service functionalities.
• Provide guidance to internal and external QA contributors regarding priorities, feature intent, expected behaviors, and reporting standards.
• Assess emerging tools, technologies, methodologies, and quality practices.
• Represent players by providing actionable feedback on usability, accessibility, progression, multiplayer, and overall game quality.
• Over 5 years of professional QA experience in game development.
• Demonstrated experience testing intricate gameplay systems and working with multidisciplinary development teams.
• Robust understanding of modern quality assurance practices and scalable testing methodologies.
• Proven ability to formulate testing strategies for complex and interconnected gameplay systems.
• Track record of enhancing quality outcomes through tools, telemetry, simulation, process enhancements, data analysis, or other innovative methods.
• Strong grasp of risk assessment and value-driven testing.
• Experience evaluating gameplay from both player experience and system behavior perspectives.
• Proficient in bug documentation, issue investigation, regression testing, and quality tracking using Jira, TestRail, or similar platforms.
• Comprehensive understanding of the game development lifecycle from prototyping to release and live operations.
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine, Unity, or comparable game development environments.
• Technical skills with development tools, telemetry systems, debugging environments, and diagnostic workflows.
• Ability to convey quality risks, priorities, and player impact across various disciplines.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
