This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide leadership in executing a portfolio of small to medium-sized substation projects that influence both business and customer profitability.
• Oversee a range of small to standard projects within our GE Grid Solutions division, including substations and fixed series capacitors, and potentially serve as deputy PM on larger HVDC/AC substation projects.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customer representatives and internal/external project teams.
• Take overall responsibility for project leadership and strategy, including planning, directing, and managing resources and processes in complex projects to ensure adherence to customer specifications, quality standards, and safety as well as technical/engineering standards.
• Estimate budgets, monitor, and influence project costs; ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
• Participate as needed in pre-contract processes during project scope, schedule, and cost formulation.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and support functions to coordinate project development, implementation, and oversight.
• Liaise with third-party/internal suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to align project specifications and requirements.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols on-site and strict compliance with quality standards.
• Create and manage multiple contracts/subcontractor work scopes and oversee the administration of written contracts.
• Facilitate the resolution of issues through change management and ensure prompt collection of payments.
• Determine and communicate work package completion percentages and commitments needed for project financial "estimate at completion" forecasting.
• Aid in the quantification and documentation of project performance alongside the project team and customer immediately following project completion.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management concerning electrical substations or a similar area.
• Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time, which may include international travel, adhering to all relevant company travel and tax policies.
• Prior experience managing high voltage electrical utility projects.
• Proficient understanding of GE GSI PM processes and tools.
• Previous involvement in projects or programs encompassing multiple businesses and/or functions throughout the entire project lifecycle—from development and design to manufacturing, delivery, installation, and commissioning and testing for acceptance.
• Proven ability to manage external, customer-facing projects to a successful conclusion.
• Capability to apply advanced technical, engineering, and quality assurance concepts to address practical business challenges.
• Commitment to upholding the highest standards of service quality in all facets of project delivery.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
• Capacity to coordinate and prioritize multiple long and short-term projects concurrently.
• PMI certification; familiarity with modern project management techniques and software systems, including global resource planning systems and Primavera project management software.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of contractual terms and experience in managing customer-facing contracts.
• Experience in preparing proposals for complex substations, including international projects and quality training.
