This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaboratively establish Marqeta's strategy for Enterprise AI and automation, encompassing responsible AI principles, governance frameworks, and a multi-quarter adoption roadmap.
• Collaborate with various business units to identify and prioritize high-value AI and automation use cases tailored for each department.
• Analyze workflows across the enterprise to pinpoint opportunities where AI can facilitate significant improvements — focusing on transformative operations rather than merely incremental automation.
• Specify functional and technical requirements (FRD/TRD) for all internal AI and automation platforms, acting as the main liaison for the BT engineering team.
• Work with Architecture Review Boards and the AI Steering Committee to guarantee compliance of all AI platforms and solutions with established IT standards and governance frameworks.
• Design and manage the Plan and Commit process with business stakeholders regarding requests for AI and automation technology.
• Establish criteria for prioritizing automation projects and enhancements based on strategic alignment, risk mitigation, ROI, and operational impact.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed AI initiatives.
• Strategically prioritize the AI portfolio in alignment with business outcomes and executive direction, ensuring engineering efforts are directed towards the most impactful projects.
• Maintain a transparent backlog of active and pending AI and automation initiatives, providing stakeholders with insights into status, effort, and anticipated value.
• Oversee QA and UAT processes to confirm that systems fulfill business requirements prior to deployment.
• Engage in sprint demonstrations and offer feedback to ensure development aligns with set acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate deployment schedules to minimize disruptions and risks to business operations.
• Implement hypercare programs for significant system launches, featuring enhanced incident SLAs and daily status updates during the stabilization phase.
• Foster Business Systems Product Management skills within the BT organization to promote consistent and high-quality product practices.
• Assess emerging AI technologies and conduct pilot programs to validate their applicability and business value prior to scaling.
• Lead the selection of vendors and the negotiation of commercial terms in collaboration with Procurement and relevant stakeholders, managing ongoing vendor relations for all Enterprise AI tools contracts.
• Stay abreast of the swiftly changing AI landscape — as tools, models, and platforms evolve continuously, this role necessitates ongoing education to ensure Marqeta's strategy is current and achievable.
• Take ownership of and execute the Enterprise AI rollout plan in partnership with Corporate Communications and Learning and Development, ensuring a phased, governed, and adoption-focused deployment across all business units.
• Drive change management for AI initiatives — the most effective solution is futile if it lacks user adoption. Establish channels, rituals, and feedback mechanisms that enhance the visibility and perceived value of AI throughout the organization.
• Over 7 years of experience in IT product management, with a minimum of 2 years dedicated to AI or emerging technology products.
• A deep understanding of AI capabilities — such as summarization, classification, generation, and agentic workflows — with the ability to translate these into business strategies and tangible use cases.
• Proven experience in developing internal-facing enterprise AI systems or platforms; you consider systems and adoption trends, not solely features.
• Demonstrated ability to manage product backlogs, defects, and enhancement roadmaps for enterprise applications or internal platforms.
• Strong instincts for prioritization, with the capacity to make difficult decisions about what is most important in a dynamic, resource-limited environment. You focus on business outcomes rather than mere activity.
• Proven ability to influence others without formal authority across various business units, finance, legal, and security stakeholders.
• Comfort in hands-on engagement with AI tools: while coding isn't required, you should be able to evaluate a platform, configure an agent, and troubleshoot issues.
• Familiarity with no-code/low-code AI platforms (e.g., Workato or similar) is highly advantageous.
• Experience in change management — understanding how to drive adoption, not just implementation.
• Preferred experience in fintech or regulated industries.
• A variety of health insurance options
• Flexible time off – take what you need
• Retirement savings program with company contributions and after-tax options
• Equity in a publicly traded company and an Employee Stock Purchase Program
• Family-forming benefits, fertility assistance, and up to 20 weeks of parental leave
• Access to free therapy sessions, financial and professional coaching, and legal advice
• Monthly stipend to support our remote work model
• Annual “development dollars” allocated for personal growth and development
• Through Flex First, enjoy the freedom to live and work wherever you and your family thrive
