This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Define exceptional, user-focused discovery, activation, and monetization experiences throughout problem-to-success flows, upgrade flows, pricing surfaces, and lifecycle touchpoints—creating scalable patterns across the platform.
• Transform concepts into production, delivering insightful UX, refined visual design, and coded prototypes that enable the organization to grasp direction, risk, and value.
• Leverage behavioral data as a key design input: analyze funnel metrics, experiment outcomes, and user signals to guide design decisions rather than merely validate them.
• Design and conduct experiments within acquisition, activation, and expansion funnels—from hypothesis development to analysis—in close collaboration with product and data science teams.
• Establish reusable growth patterns within Mural's design system that balance clarity, persuasion, and long-term user trust.
• Collaborate with engineers to guarantee precise, high-quality execution of flows and components.
• Demonstrate how to simultaneously uphold craftsmanship and commercial intent—showing colleagues how to design for conversion while maintaining user trust.
• Mentor designers focused on growth-related surfaces, enhancing their understanding of hierarchy, motivation, friction, and funnel thinking.
• Contribute to the team's comprehension of growth design as a discipline: a principled method for securing user commitment.
• Advocate for the connection between growth quality and product quality, assisting leadership in recognizing when they align and when they diverge.
• Collaborate with research, data science, and product teams to enhance the quality of experimentation across the organization.
• Reframe challenges at the funnel level, aiding teams in understanding where value is generated or lost and the reasons behind it.
• Facilitate workshops or working sessions that clarify pricing, packaging, onboarding, and upgrade moment opportunities.
• Partner with product, research, and data science to define success metrics, formulate experiment hypotheses, and analyze results.
• Promote user trust as a valuable asset for growth, rather than a barrier to conversion—demonstrating how design maintains that balance.
• Share growth strategies for designing discovery, onboarding, and identity flows with colleagues through critique and collaboration.
• Collaborate with research, data, and product teams to enhance experimentation quality and refine how Mural interprets user value signals.
• Foster a culture of design excellence, particularly in areas where growth and monetization intersect with core product experiences.
• 5+ years of product design experience working on intricate applications, particularly in PLG, SaaS, or self-service products.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, experiment-driven environments with frequent iterations and learning opportunities.
• Experience in designing in-product discovery, onboarding, sign-up, or activation flows.
• Exceptional craftsmanship: visual clarity, spacing, motion, and interaction refinement are innate.
• Strong interaction design capabilities and a meticulous approach to visual refinement, hierarchy, motion, and clarity.
• Capacity to design within systems, recognizing how decisions impact surfaces and user journeys.
• Experience collaborating with product and data teams to interpret behavioral insights, experiment outcomes, or funnel metrics.
• Curiosity and proactive problem-solving: you explore edge cases, foresee constraints, and think beyond the immediate brief.
• Empathy for first-time users and awareness of trust, motivation, and cognitive load.
• Strong communication skills that facilitate informed, user-centered decisions among cross-functional partners.
• 8+ years of product design experience, ideally in SaaS, productivity tools, collaboration software, or product-led growth environments.
• Proven record of leading design work focused on growth, monetization, or conversion—not just contributing.
• Deep understanding of funnel thinking: you see acquisition, activation, retention, and expansion as interconnected systems, not isolated moments.
• Strong analytical instincts: you can interpret behavioral data and experiment results to refine design choices.
• Exceptional craftsmanship: visual clarity, spacing, motion, and interaction refinement are second nature.
• Systems thinking: you grasp how decisions cascade across surfaces, journeys, and user relationships over time.
• Experience mentoring or guiding other designers, even informally—you know how to elevate the quality of work around you.
• Strong communication abilities that assist cross-functional partners in making user-centered decisions.
• Comfort working in contexts where patterns are not yet established and playbooks need to be created.
• Also beneficial if you possess:
• Experience with pricing architecture, packaging strategy, or design of monetization models.
• Extensive experience mapping and designing activation journeys—the complete arc from initial action to genuine value realization.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted tools and vibe coding to prototype growth flows, simulate behavioral nudges, and test funnel logic in motion—viewing code as a design material for rapid exploration.
• Background in organic acquisition or activation funnels at scale.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted experiences or contextual intelligence in growth flows.
• Experience collaborating with data science teams on experimentation frameworks or causal inference.
• History of developing 0→1 growth systems or redesigning faulty acquisition or retention loops.
• Equal Opportunity: We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
