Lead Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ecuador.

📋 Description

• Analyze client requirements and lead the technical roadmap to deliver impactful solutions that align with business objectives.

• Collaborate with business development, marketing, and capability development teams to shape and enhance Thoughtworks’ cloud and infrastructure practice.

• Establish and maintain controls and processes to ensure the continuous delivery and improvement of infrastructure and applications.

• Champion automation throughout all phases of the delivery and infrastructure lifecycle.

• Oversee monitoring activities to guarantee that the technical expectations for project deliverables are consistently fulfilled.

• Offer expertise and direction in DevOps, cloud technologies, platform, and infrastructure engineering both internally and at client sites.

• Forge strong partnerships with client leadership across engineering and commercial sectors.

• Spearhead the design and execution of innovative solutions to address existing constraints and business policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven ability to lead the collaborative design of enterprise and/or web-scale hosting platforms.

• Proficient in administering application servers, web servers, and databases.

• Extensive knowledge of cloud and virtualization platforms, infrastructure automation, and application hosting technologies.

• Experience collaborating with software delivery teams.

• Familiarity with and regular application of DevOps principles, Agile methodologies, and Infrastructure as Code.

• Background in server virtualization.

• Experience with at least one IaaS cloud platform.

• Proficient with two or more application runtime platforms, including physical servers, virtual servers, container clusters, serverless architectures, and databases.

• Ability to write scripts in at least one scripting language.

• Experience in building Linux servers, Windows servers, or container clusters.

• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery tools across various technology stacks, web, or mobile.

• Knowledge of monitoring systems for availability, performance, or security.

• Experience with stress and performance testing, as well as observability patterns, including Distributed Tracing/OpenTracing, Log Aggregation, Audit Logging, Exception Tracking, Health Check API, Application Metrics, Self-Healing, and Multi-Cloud.

• Understanding of security issues, threats, infrastructure platform vulnerabilities, secrets management, network security, and software supply chain security.

• Experience with unit testing and automated testing tools is a plus.

• Enjoyment in collaborating with colleagues across the organization.

• Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Capability to partner directly with CTO/CIO/COO leadership teams and engage with senior IT groups in an advisory role.
