Lead Physical Substation Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +9 more states.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Create designs for power utility substations in accordance with relevant codes and client standards.

β€’ Develop general layouts, electrical and equipment schematics, elevation views, cable trench designs, grounding and conduit drawings, detailed specifications, bills of materials, and AC/DC power systems.

β€’ Design ground grids utilizing applicable codes and industry-standard software.

β€’ Formulate plans for lightning protection and grounding systems.

β€’ Conduct calculations for AC/DC load, bus span, and ampacity.

β€’ Generate equipment and material specifications for procurement, design scopes, and cost estimations.

β€’ Prepare conceptual designs and layouts for facility planning studies.

β€’ Compile documentation to support procurement, construction, and system operation/maintenance activities.

β€’ Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.

β€’ Facilitate client meetings and conduct site visits.

β€’ Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes, including the technical review and approval of engineering design packages.

β€’ Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

β€’ Over 10 years of experience in Substation physical design engineering.

β€’ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

β€’ Exceptional document management and organizational skills.

β€’ Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work.

β€’ Capability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines concurrently.

β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

β€’ Ability to work effectively within a team and engage professionally with clients and stakeholders.
