This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver robust and flexible power system solutions utilizing solar energy, energy storage, controls, reciprocating engines, and other distributed energy resources.
• Comprehend client objectives and limitations, leading solutions that fulfill client goals.
• Collaborate with manufacturers of switchgear, batteries, inverters, generators, and other distributed energy resources to create designs and solutions.
• Design low- and medium-voltage installations up to 35kV, including higher-voltage interconnections.
• Coordinate with utility companies and complete interconnection applications.
• Navigate legacy blueprints, brownfield equipment, and incomplete data to formulate plans, estimates, and designs.
• Oversee engineering subconsultants and construction partners.
• Act as Owner’s Engineer throughout the phases of development, design review, procurement, construction, commissioning, and interconnection.
• Conduct technical evaluations of EPC and OEM deliverables to ensure compliance with client standards and project performance requirements.
• Assist in factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning, and performance validation activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution, focused on power.
• At least four years of experience in the design and construction of distribution, generation, or storage projects.
• Proven experience as an Owner’s Engineer for photovoltaic and/or other power generation projects across various clients.
• Background in Distribution, Substation Protection & Control, or Substation Physical design.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE 1547, IEEE 386, and other pertinent industry standards and regulations.
• Capability to create and guide others in the production of One Line Diagrams, Electrical Plans/Elevations, AC/DC Schematics, and related drawings.
• Familiarity with factory acceptance tests and the on-site commissioning of power systems.
• Technical knowledge of distributed energy resource technologies, including storage, micro nuclear reactors, solar power generation, and conventional engine/turbine generators.
• Understanding of effective grounding, synchronization, distributed control, and remedial action strategies in microgrid settings.
• Awareness of DER interconnection regulatory frameworks such as CPUC Rule 21.
• Experience in submitting interconnection applications and reviewing utility studies, including Detailed, Facility, and System Impact Studies.
• Collaboration experience with project managers, engineers, technicians, and regulatory bodies.
• A Professional Engineer license in power or active pursuit of that license is advantageous.
• A Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.
• Experience with protection or arc flash studies using ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, and/or SKM is advantageous.
• Experience with grounding or illumination studies using CDEGS and/or AutoLUX is advantageous.
